Corporate Social Responsibility

Aligning our values with corporate citizenship

Copic recognizes that companies have a responsibility to do more than just be profitable. We’re committed to uplifting and improving medicine in the communities we serve and our employees put that passion into practice every day through efforts highlighted below. Corporate social responsibility at Copic is directed in three ways: philanthropy, employee engagement, and community engagement.

Philanthropy

Copic Medical Foundation

Since 1991, the Copic Medical Foundation has invested more than $12 million to improve healthcare outcomes—through grants, scholarships, awards, and other initiatives.

Copic Humanitarian Award

Each year, the Copic Humanitarian Award honors physicians for their volunteer medical services and contributions to their communities. The recipients select a health care-related 501(c)(3) organization in their state to receive a $10,000 donation from Copic. Since 2001, the Humanitarian Award has donated more than $600,000 to 55 healthcare nonprofits across seven states.

Employee-Directed Donations

Each year, Copic employees designate a healthcare nonprofit to receive a donation from Copic on their behalf. Since 2015, our employees have directed more than $145,000 in donations.

Employee Engagement

Copic Community

Copic Community is an internal group made up of employees from across the company. It works to identify and engage in efforts that will allow Copic to maintain and build on the positive aspects of its culture, eliminate or move away from negative aspects, and fine-tune our culture towards a vision in which we all feel comfortable, supported, respected, and rewarded.

"Helping people direct money to good organizations at the end of the year is such a special experience. It grows a sense of camaraderie as we all come together to help people."

Community Engagement

Volunteer Physician Program

We insure volunteer physicians at no charge or a reduced cost (based on state requirements). Since 1996, Copic has written $4.69 million in premium for volunteer physicians—supporting their important contributions to our communities.

Copic’s Resident Rotation Program

We’re here to help medical residents prepare for the challenges they’ll face as they enter their career in medicine. Our Resident Rotation Program hosts more than 200 residents annually for rotations that provide active, case-based, educational experiences, helping residents and programs meet ACGME core competencies. We also offer seminars that focus on life after residency, including the business side of becoming a physician. Since 2004, we’ve trained more than 2,600 residents across five states.

Community Board Service

Many of Copic’s employees serve on nonprofit boards, city commissions, and advisory boards in the communities we serve across our region.

Community Action Team

This internal team encourages employees to serve the community through participation in events and service projects. Since 2014, Copic employees have volunteered more than 2,200 hours. Projects include planting flowers at Doctors Care, providing gifts to families in need at Inner City Health Center, meal preparation at Ronald McDonald House, and blood drives with Vitalant, and a biennial Silent Auction, which raises funds to benefit a designated nonprofit.
